Determine MYSQL Version From the Command Line

posted 28 February 2008, Thursday

Determining MSQL's version is not very difficult but the command line is a quick trick and its useful.

As simple as it is sometimes one forgets and here it is for a quick hit that really works.

Know your host or at least the IP: Issue the following command

[jes@sparc ~]$ mysql -h sparc -V

mysql  Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.27, for redhat-linux-gnu (i686) using readline 5.0

Or use the Host IP:

[jes@ sparc ~]$ mysql -h 172.175.85.172 -V

mysql  Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.27, for redhat-linux-gnu (i686) using readline 5.0
